A Note from Ann
One of my favourite monthly galleries in the past year is the (Im)perfect Gallery from April 2011. As hard as I try to take good photos, there are always times when they just don’t come out. Sometimes the light is far from ideal, sometimes I don’t have the right lens, and sometimes I just plain mess up with my settings. Regardless of the reasons, the “bad” photos usually do tell a story and they are definitely worth
Inspired by that gallery, I scrapped the very imperfect pictures taken at my kids’ track meet. It was a rainy day and moving subjects are notoriously difficult to shoot so of course many of the pictures were not very sharp. I tried several tricks in this layout to make my photos better. I sharpened some heavily, added some motion blur to the running picture so that the small amount of existing blur wouldn’t stand out as much, and blurred the background/people in two pictures (the high jump and the one of my husband and daughter standing in a group) because I wanted the focus to be on my main subjects. (This also had the benefit of making other children unidentifiable, always a good thing when I’m posting layouts on the Internet!)
June Fun Fact
I just learned how to make yogurt in a crockpot. What a revelation! It’s so easy to make and so delicious!
