A Note from Aliza
This layout is about something that I have once again added to my life each day-riding my bike to and from work. It’s not the first time I have gotten into this routine. It’s always tricky getting started, and even harder to maintain in the winter months. But while I am doing it, I love it.
It’s happened several times over the years. After a long hiatus, it is always difficult to get back to riding to work. There’s the physical effort, the time involved (like, 2 extra minutes), and the fear of riding in NYC traffic. But once I get started and keep it going for a couple of days, NOT riding becomes difficult. On rainy or really cold days, I miss the sweat, and the little cardio rush, and suddenly the thought of paying the subway fare seems like highway robbery. Except sometimes my body needs to rest for a day or two. And then sometimes that break continues too long, and the cycle begins again. Since June 2013, I am back in a bike riding groove. Go me.
October Fun Fact
When riding over the bridge (at least while riding up), I have to have something to occupy my mind, and distract me from the physical effort. Usually I make a to-do list in my mind, or I think about the details of a scrapbooking project. If I can’t think of anything in particular, I think of a big word, and I try to scramble the letters to make new words.
