A Note From Amy
One of my favorite things to do with a 4 x 6 is to use the white space on the photo as a spot for embellishments or journaling. Here, I filled up the “white” space of the fence with a few extra supporting words for my title.
I love, love these photos of you, leaning against Grandpa Don’s old fence. (I remember when the fence wasn’t there, I remember when he built it.) They’re just so you, right there on film: funny and sweet; unafraid to show what you’re feeling; a little bit mercurial. Your casual, laid-back boyishness. Plus you are wearing your grey hoodie, one of your favorite items of clothing ever. (If you look close you’ll notice it’s more than a little bit filthy...I hadn’t bribed you into letting me wash it for a couple of days.) From day one of your existence you have given me this certain little thrill of happiness. It’s those grey-blue eyes and the way you fill up a room with your personality, and your little kindnesses and the set of your jaw which speaks of stubbornness over the important stuff.
