A Note from Donna
My husband and I recently purchased our first home and we have spent the last month making the move out of our old house and into the new one. While there are many facets to moving (emotional, financial, logistical), for this month's layout I wanted to focus on one of the more practical aspects and that is finding where to purchase all of life’s essentials (or not-so-essentials). My son understood that we would be living in a new home and moving away from our old one and the old neighborhood. In moving to our new home and new neighborhood I've tried to make finding all our favorite stores kind of an adventure for my eldest son (who celebrated his forth birthday during this move). It really has been a fun adventure for us.
The transition from our old house and neighborhood to our very first home in a new city hasn’t been the easiest. One thing I’ve tried to do to make it more fun is to explain that now that we’ve moved we have to find where all our favorite stores are in the new city. So far we’ve found our new: Trader Joe’s, place to get “hangager” and french fries, craft store, bookstore and red store (Target). We’ve also found our new Costco, bagel shop (Panera Bread) and our new coffee store (Starbucks). Even though it is a small thing, finding our favorite stores together has been a fun way of exploring our new hometown. June 2010
