Hi everyone! I'm Sara.
So, I'm going to let you in on a little secret. I'm wearing a pair of pants I recently got back from the tailor. No, I didn't just loose my pregnancy weight. And no, I didn't sprout an extra inch, though I've always wanted to be 5'8". The truth is, I like shortcuts and I'm cheap. :) I just couldn't justify the time the cost of driving all that way to the mall and purchasing brand new cropped pants for the summer, when my closet is full of perfectly good pants, and there's a tailor down the road! The cuffs were worn from being dragged through the rain and mud, and many had hems that had come undone, but were otherwise just fine. So I took them in to the tailor and had her crop and hem them. Voila! 6 *new* pairs of capri pants for no more than $70, And the best thing, I hardly had to leave my neighborhood to have it done!
Now before you wonder if you somehow stumbled upon another blog, I promise this does have something to do with scrapbooking. Let me show you.
This is one of my first scrapbooking pages, ever. Even then, my pages weren't too fancy. See the "a" in the title (how could you miss it! :)) It's a cut-down letter "d." Truth is, I probably had an "a" somewhere, or could have easily picked up another alpha set at the scrapbooking store, but I tend to use what I have around. It's just easier! And let's face it, being a new mom, I couldn't guarantee I'd be getting a shower that day, let alone make out of the house on an actual scrapbooking errand!
Later on, I tried a few square pages, but you can see, even then, I liked to keep things pretty simple. Back then, and even now, keeping it easy means finishing the layout. I never have had a terribly long attention span. ;)
It didn't take long for me to find my groove, however. My scrapbook space has changed 100 times over the past 7 years, but it's always been small. That means all my supplies are close at hand, and everything (and I do mean EVERYTHING) is easily within reach. After all, remember that short attention span? If I had to get out of my chair to get a piece of chipboard, I'd probably get sidetracked along the way and end up watching "So You Think You Can Dance?" instead.
Now, before I leave you, I'll share a couple recent favorites. And by recent, I mean within the past 2 years. Because that's another thing you should know about me. I don't actually scrapbook that often.
Thanks for listening to my confessions, and for taking this little walk down memory lane with me. We're all so excited to see pages from all of you! We'll let you know when the flickr album is set up!
Now go scrapbook! Or sit in the sun and drink lemonade! Whatever you do, have a happy Thursday!
