I'm so glad that Y comes last in the word FORTY, because it allows me to finish with the most important post of the week.
I've observed that a large number of scrapbookers don't make layouts about themselves. Oh, they might be in a photo or mentioned in the journaling, but they're not the main subject. Why? Maybe they feel so "behind" on pages about their children that they never take the time. Or perhaps they feel awkward or selfish focusing on themselves.
If I were a betting woman, I'd be willing to wager that when those women are gone and their children are one day looking through the scrapbooks they left behind, seeing pages upon pages about themselves and their siblings, they'll wish their moms had been just a little more "selfish."
Y is for You: Making the Most of the Subject You Know Best
The truth is, if we don't record your own lives in some way, mostly likely no one will. Then how will future generations catch a glimpse into...
our daily rituals
what we fear
Please do me a favor. (You can consider it a belated 40th birthday gift.)
Pledge to create at least one layout about yourself over the next week or two. Your children (and their children, and... you get the idea) will thank you. Consider using your own handwriting at least somewhere on it. Fancy or messy, it's treasured by those who love you.
It's been a pleasure. Happy Easter!
