Wow, are you sick of me yet ;) I know that I have hosted the blog the entire week, but I had to share a Click. post too! 

Today I have the coolest challenge for you all. While pinning away over at Pinterest I came over this pin.

See how brilliant this is?! Your challenge is to follow your kid around (or any other person that you love!) and shoot photos of what they typically do on a normal day. Just add a short caption to the photos and you have recorded a day in the life just like that! Awesome! And you could easily use the photos to make a minialbum titled: A day in the life of...

I am so doing this myself! Yes, I am challenging you and me both to do this! We can do it! And don´t forget to share your photos with us!

Love week | day 4

"My Darling, Darling I love you madly!" That is what my sister said to me when I was very young and the nickname stuck. To this day all my relatives (grandparents, dad,mom even my brother-in-law!) calls me Darling :) My nieces and nephew talked about Darling at their kindergarden and when I went to visit not long ago, their teacher said: Oh, YOU are Darling, we thought it was a cocker spaniel :) hehe...

Today on my last day of blog hosting, I thought I would share a few ideas for Guerilla Love. What is that you ask? Well, let´s just say it is a very fun way of spreading love and goodness around you. I have followed Patience Salgado on her blog kindnessgirl.com for a while now and I love how she gives example after example of how kindness changes everything. Her latest mission was to suprise the garbage collectors with a thank you note. I have been known to do a little Guerilla love myself :) It is simple really: leave a note in a library book, put a heart on a mirror or chalk up a sidewalk. 

 

Before Christmas I made these small envelopes and made them really pretty. Inside I tucked a little encouragment message for whomever would find it. I found some awesome free printables at a blog called Kind over Matter  there are a couple of downloads that are cards you just cut out and you can use them in Guerilla loving! Go check them out! 

 

Another place I have found lots of ideas is Color me Katie . For example she painted hearts on rocks and placed them in the cracks of a pavement "I made sure to fill some cracks in the sidewalk with the rocks for people who feel so low they just can't look up." How sweet is that?!!

 

Sherri from the blog Families are Fun! made this simple craft with her kids and had them put up the magnetic smiley caps to share smiles around town. 

 

There are so many small things that you can do to share the love with others this Valentine´s Day or anyother day for that matter! To get you started, here is a short list:

leave messages in library books or books at the bookstore

leave cookies or other treat for you postman/woman

leave new (or old ones you have read) magazines at waitingrooms

leave a note in someones pocket before they leave home

write a message on the bathroom mirror (we do that all the time!)

write a message on the street with chalk

I could go on forever! And don´t forget to include your children, it is such fun thing to do together!

Love Week | Day 3

Ok, today I am sharing a few things that you can make and give to your Valentine. I don´t know about you, but once Valentine´s Day is approaching I often tend to thing of projects like 10 things I love about you and such. But I have done that already, both for my husband and my daughter. Don´t get me wrong, I can happily list more than 10 things I love about both, but I need to come up with new things from time to time. For this year I am planning to cook. Yes, I have a private cook...in my husband :) My husband cooks all the meals in this house, year round. But on Valentine´s Day, I am going to try to suprise him and my daughter with dinner and dessert. I got my inspiration from Rebecca Gough and her dinner at eight blog series, where she shares supercute simple dates with her husband.  

Now, I am a girl that loves to get a card or two now and then. So, I have created 4 free printable cards that you can download and print, fold and voila! Instant Valentines!

Here is the "manly version." ;) Using digital kits from Crystal Wilkerson I created these cards with a more unisex color scheme if you will.

And here are the more traditionally colored cards. I hope that you can use these for something this Love day!

A few years ago during a cold winter, I made rice handwarmers for my daughter. This year I made one more pair + this bigger version. It is about as big as a dinner plate and I will use it on cold evenings to warm up her bed before she goes to bed. I know that she is 12, but she needs heat even if she isn´t a baby anymore, right?! It is made just as the handwarmers, but bigger.

How to: Cut your heart shape out in a fleece fabric (you can certainly use other fabric types as well!) and sew with your machine around the heart and leave a small opening where you can add your rice. After you have added the rice just sew the gap too. Warm in a microwave about 15 seconds, depending on the size and the power of your microwave. Another great use for it is to warm up a car seat for a loved one or your baby's carseat.

 

Have you tried needle felting before? It is actually really easy. You will need a felting needle, whool and a piece of foam rubber and in this case a cookie cutter shaped as a heart.

You will start adding some wool into the cookie cutter and begin to pin the needle up and down so that the needle will pull the wool down into the foam rubber. Be careful though!

Gradually add more wool. You want it to be real firm. I usually take the felted wool out of the cookie cutter from time to time and turn it over so that I can see how the other side is coming along. 

When you think it is firm and thick enough you can add a pin and you have a nice little gift for someone you love or perhaps yourself to spread some love around you ♥

Love Week | Day 2

Well, hello love! I remember being in England as an exchange student when I was 13 and a random lady said that to me :)

How did yesterday's post go down? Perhaps you found something you felt was doable for next week??!!

Today I will be talking about scrapbooking. As I prepared for this week's postings I flipped through my albums to see if I had any Valentine´s Day layouts and I found one (1)! 

 

It is a layout that I made in 2009 after a lovely Valentine´s Day we had together. This was the year that I decided to do something nice for him, even though he thinks that this day isn´t anything to celebrate. We had the loveliest time! 

 

I did however find quite a few layouts that feature love ♥

My daughter took this photo of my husband and I on our 9th wedding anniversary last year. I was on a bannner high at the moment and used a printable one for this page.

Love Week | Day 1

Hi there! Lisa O here for a whole week of blogging! I am going to talk about love :) that is one of my favorite words! Anyway, as Valentine`s Day is coming up next week, I thought I would just share lots of ideas around that theme.

First, I am well aware of that not everyone celebrates Love day (I am married to one!), but as I have thought about it throught the years, I want to do something special on that day. And I hope that I can inspire you to make something cute anyway!

 

I am going to share crafts, printables, decor ideas and a few layout ideas.

Well, let's get started! 

Ok, I had these mini embroidery hoops that I picked up at the thrift store. I removed the embroidery that was there when I bought them and just sat there for a minute or two...what should I do with them? I thought. Then I went to bed. Ha ha! Sometimes inspiration is MIA when you need it the most isn´t it?! But, when I woke up the next morning I remembered a scrap of fabric a friend send me a while ago. I decided to make 3 simple wall art pieces using that fabric.

I added the red fabric to 2 of the hoops and chose a white fabric to go in the third. I then stamped, using one of my paper stamps, onto the red fabric + one that I cut out and adhered to the white fabric. For some variety I handsewed a button to one of the hoops. Voila, a simple decor idea! 

 

A few weeks ago I went on a walk down the beach and as usual my pockets were filled with rocks I just had to take home :) I also came across a few pieces of driftwood. I used one to make a wall decoration. First I added letter stickers to the driftwood. 

 

I then painted over the letters with black paint. I could ofcourse go with red or pink or whatever color, but I thought that black would be a cool contrast to the wood.

 When the paint was dry I peeled the stickers of.

I am sorry for the horrible picture, but I just couldn´t get a better one :(

 

Our new collective member Diane Payne shared this lovely and simple decor!

 

For the next project I pulled out my sewing machine. I punched old bookpages with my scalloped circle punch and some various red-ish patterned paper with a small heart punch. I then simply sewed everything together one string at the time. Last year I made this with hearts I had cut by hand from old books and I didn´t take that down until the Christmas decorations went up :)

 

In 2010 I made this shadowbox as a weddinggift for a dear,dear friend. I began with painting the actual shadowbox white and then added pink accents as their color was pink. I also trimmed a few photos to add to some of the boxes. I love how it turned out. You could make a smaller version, a family version or maybe do one with embellishment and words for Valentine´s Day.

Welcome to the February edition of write. Saturday!

Except from a disastrous attempt at learning the viola in eighth grade, I confess to being fairly illiterate when it comes to reading music. I don’t know as much as I should about classical music. But all that aside, I love music. There’s nearly always some playing somewhere in my house. Right now, in fact, as I write this I’m listening to Florence + The Machine.

So with my affection for music, naturally I adored this month’s gallery. Several layouts of mine grew directly out of the work of the other Write. Click. Scrapbook. member’s words and thoughts about music, some of them related to tunes and some of them not. Won’t you play along with me for this month’s write. Saturday? The following three prompts might help you write something you love as much as your favorite song!

 

Musical Tastes

 Write about your subject’s or your own musical tastes. You could start with a listing of favorites, but then try to dig a little bit deeper. What do those musical tastes say about you? When did you start to love that sort of music? Who or what event influenced you? How have your tastes changed?

This prompt came right from Marnie’s "Dressed in Black"  layout. I confess to doing a happy dance when I read her journaling because I had no idea our musical histories were so similar! (I also copied her layout fairly closely; the black and white images on mine include snippets from some of my favorite musical lyrics.)  For my journaling, I wrote about where the spark of my musical affection came from and how it helped me along the way:

It’s always bothered me a little bit that I have no photos of myself from my adolescent days—I think my mom was just too bothered by my all-black get-up—so it took Marnie’s layout to get me to scrap some of the story even without any pictures. What stories haven’t you scrapped because you don’t have photos? Scrap them anyway!

 

What Do You Miss?

Write about something you miss either from your own past or from your subject’s.

When I read the journaling from Lisa K’s layout, it put a lump in my throat. I’ve never been on stage but I’ve felt that same yearning to return to an old skill. I wrote the journaling for this layout on a morning when I’d just woken up from a gymnastics dream:

The things you miss don’t have to come from your own past—they can come from your children’s, too. I actually wrote the journaling for this layout, which discusses a bit what I miss about my daughter Haley when she was little, before I saw Lisa’s layout, but I realized they’re pretty similar:

What do you look back on and miss right now? Find a photo that illustrates it and make a layout!

(For the record: Haley—who is the master of arms'-length pictures—took the photos, not me, as I’m fairly obsessive about not even touching my phone while I’m driving. And "special night" is the once-a-month evening when I take one of my kids out to dinner.)

 

Anticipation

Write about anticipation. Journal about something you or your subject is looking forward to, or, write about a time that you (or your subject) were filled with anticipation with the perspective of looking backward in time—how did the moment measure up to the anticipation?

This prompt was inspired by Keshet’s layout, "Sing to You," where she journaled about looking forward to singing to her baby. (She’s since delivered!) Anticipation is such a joyous thing but it can be easy to overlook in our scrapbooks because the event we’re anticipating sometimes feels more important. Don’t let it slip past you! What are you anticipating? How does the excitement influence your life right now?

In her "Adventure" layout, Christa journaled about her anticipation over her upcoming move to Japan:

I can’t help but be envious of all the adventures she’s going to have, and I'm already anticipating seeing her photos and layouts!

 

Keshet’s journaling brought back so many memories of my own pregnancies and the experiences I looked forward to. Since I’m done having babies and won’t experience that anticipation again, I looked backward:

In my journaling I wrote about how the anticipation of wondering "who will this baby be?" is no less sweet than where I am right now, when I get to know who he is.

CHA Armchair Attendee Week: Write. Click. Scrapbook. Team Members' "Must Haves"

Welcome to the last day of CHA Armchair Attendee Week! I hope you've enjoyed our week this week - I had a lot of fun checking out all of the sneak peeks, pics and video from the CHA show floor, and sorting through all of that to find the key trends I shared earlier this week.

For today's post, I (Vivian) asked Write. Click. Scrapbook. team members to tell me what their top "must have" is from this set of CHA releases. The only parameter I set was that they had to choose a product from a manufacturer whose design team they are not on. Some team members had an easy time doing this and were able to instantly name a favorite. Others took some time to think it over. Some of us had a really hard time and listed more than one product since our top "must have" was, in fact, a tie amongst several "must haves." Some are still thinking about it. Some lines were pretty popular amongst the team, as you will see below.
