My name is Amy Coose, and I am a Texas girl living outside of Washington DC with my hubby of 16 years, and our three fabulous children. My son Austin is 13, and a star hockey player. My sweet daughter, Georgia is 11, and loves all the teeny-bop stuff out there. Then there's my sweetest baby Davis, who just turned one Sept 15th. Yep, there are 10 LONG years in between my 2nd and 3rd child. Davis was a complete surprise, and after we got over the shock that we were going to be parents again at 40, we were thrilled to be adding another baby to the family. He is such a blessing, and I had no idea how much I needed this sweet boy. I started scrapbooking after my oldest was born, and have been hooked ever since. It's a great creative outlet, and I get to have fun with paper and glue. My kids are old enough now (well, two out of the three) that they enjoy looking back at all the pages I've created. It really helps us remember so many wonderful things we would have forgotten otherwise. It has become much more than just a hobby for me and I can't imagine a day without some kind of scrapbooking in it!
I am really inspired by trends lately, so Kathy's week of trends was right up my alley! Being trendy on my pages is definitely not my goal when I create, but I love to use trends in a way that accents my pages, while still making sure they still represent me, which is very important. In these layouts, I have used my top three favorite trends at the moment-sunbursts, arrows and Washi Tape.
Sunbursts
Here, you can see my love for sunbursts! I have to force myself not to use it on every page I create. For this page, I knew I had a lot of pictures that I wanted to include, and I didn't want them to get lost on the patterns in the sunburst. I decided to divide the layout, and only place the sunburst on the bottom half. That way the pictures are the focus on the top half, and the sunburst turns into an accent on the bottom of my layout.
Washi Tape & Arrows
On my Simple Pleasures layout, I wanted to build my layout around the Simple Stories journaling block. Since the title was Simple Pleasures, I decided to keep my layout just that...simple. Adding the washi tape and arrows help to draw your focus around the layout. The tag cluster totally rounded out my grid design.
Trending Loves
My Cherish layout contains many trends that I love-doilies, banners, stitching and confetti. For this layout I wanted the picture to be the focus. I placed the picture where I wanted and built the layout around it. I tucked all the embellishments around the picture, and when I was finished, added my final touches of stitching and the heart confetti. My title placement is something I have in the back of my mind as I am creating, so I was able to make sure to leave the perfect place for it.
Thanks so much to wcs for continuing to inspire me, and for having me visit during this week!
Amy is so very good with creating layered vignettes. Look how carefully she layers bits and shapes and patterns. All with the intention and result of drawing your eye to her photo. That's hard to do and she makes it look effortless. Be sure to stop by Amy's blog where you will find layout after layout filled with happy memories and colorful pages. Her willingness to embrace trends and try new techniques makes her pages little works of art as well as places to record her thoughts. She's a tremendous scrapbooker!
