Happy April, everyone! Kelly here for the rest of the week with ideas for spring. It seems that every year when the snow starts melting here and the daffodils reappear, I suddenly get an urge to change things. Paint walls, clean out closets, cut my hair, buy new shoes! How about you? What are your spring plans?
I thought this would be a great week to celebrate shaking things up a bit (well, as much as you can with paper, scissors, and embellishments!). I've planned a few days of celebrating the fresh, the new, and the inspiring.
First up: putting inspiration to use. A few days ago my hubby saw me scrolling through my Pinterest account, and he remarked, "So that's what it's all about. Pretty pictures. And you just stare at them?" While I do like to just look at some of my "pins" on my boards, I realized that I have a bunch of potential projects just waiting for me. So I decided to stop staring and make something!
First up is a page using some of the cute printables by Mandy Fisher pinned here. They are intended for use as Project Life journaling cards but I cut them out to use as accents. I'd love to experiment with PL, but I'm not that brave yet!
I also used a technique that I have admired on a lot of other people's pages, but never tried on my own. Using an old toothbrush dipped in watered-down acrylic paint I created splatters on my background paper in two different colors. The same look can be achieved using inks and spritz bottles. It was fun to play around with a paint technique.
It was inspired by a layout by Emily Spahn that Lisa pinned here.
How about you? Do you have anything in your inspiration files that you are ready to try out? I have a few more techniques that I want to play with this week, so come back tomorrow to put a little spring in your step!
