Generally I feel as if I am 27 years old….you know, that age when you are out of school and finally feeling like an “adult” but not old. I don’t feel old…yet. ;)
My favorite book is A Prayer for Owen Meany by John Irving. My favorite song of all time is Crash by Dave Matthews Band, but I have a constantly rotating list of current favorites. I don’t have a favorite movie, but I tend to like the ones that make you think, much to the dismay of my husband who prefers the kind that just entertain!
During my life, I have lived in Wisconsin and Illinois. I have a strange desire to live in the Pacific Northwest. It’s funny…I’ve never actually even been there. I’m just totally sure I’d love it.
One of the most defining moments of my life was when I left my small hometown to go to a large university in a much larger city. I realized that for the first time in my life I could be the person I really was, instead of the person that I was always expected to be…not that the “old” me was bad…she just wasn’t really the true me.
My camera is a Canon 50D. My favorite lenses (okay, and by favorite I mean the only two I really use) are my 50 f/1.4 and my 28 f/1.8.
When I scrapbook, I must have a picture, some kraft cardstock and patterned paper. I think I could seriously survive on just those things…oh and something to stick it all down with!
Though I began scrapbooking in fifth grade, I didn’t really find my groove until about 2008. I do have some pretty stellar scrapbooks from the 90’s where I made my own journaling blocks and titles out of typing paper and crayons, though!
My favorite scrapbooking colors change all the time. Right now I am finding the vast majority of my pages have aqua somewhere in them. I also love when I can throw some orange and yellow into the mix.
You might notice that many of my pages include only photo. I have tried to be a “many photos” scrapper, but often a single photo tells such a story that I feel like it deserves its own page.
Emily Spahn is a music teacher by day and a mom by…well, the rest of the time! She and her husband live the suburbs of Chicago and are the proud parents of two totally awesome kiddos, Mirielle (rhymes with “cereal”!) and Henry. She has been scrapbooking forever, but more seriously for the past five years. She has been on several design teams and has had work published in Scrapbook Trends, Scrapbooks, Etc., Creating Keepsakes, Scrapbooks & Cards, Today, and Memory Makers. Emily loves photography, but is a self-proclaimed amateur and is constantly working to improve her skills. Her dream would to be to learn enough to someday open a children’s photography business. In addition to scrapbooking and photography, Emily loves trying new recipes, reading and blogging, but mostly she loves spending time with her family.
