Generally I feel as if I am wishing there were more hours in the day to do all the stuff I want to do, workout, cook elaborate meals, spend more time with my family and yes, scrapbook too. So I've learned to take things one day at a time and have a positive attitude on life.
I have very eclectic tastes in music, my iPhone has a mix of pop (Pink), alternative (Pearl Jam), country (Lady Antebellum), good ol' rock and roll (Bob Seger), classical (Andrea Bocelli), and I could go on... all this to say that I love music and its a major source of inspiration for me when I create.
During my life, I have learned to scuba dive. I'm not an adventurous person so this was a major accomplishment for me.
One of the most defining moments of my life was becoming a mom. My perspective on life, my career and people changed.
My camera is a Canon Rebel T3 but ever since getting an iPhone, 6 months ago (yes I was a late bloomer), I'd say that I use it just as much, if not more, than my Rebel.
When I scrapbook I need music. When I find my groove and I'm on a roll, my family might catch me singing out loud or even dancing at my table while I create. Needless to say that my girls have often given me strange looks and walked away.
Though I began scrapbooking in 2004, I don't think I found my groove until I took a break from scrapbooking in 2009 and came back to it after about 6 months away. This break gave me insight on what I wanted to do as a scrapbooking artist and how I wanted to balance my personal and creative life.
My favourite scrapbooking colours are white, gold and yellow! I have a hard time completing a layout without at least a couple of these colours.
You might notice that many of my pages include layers and lots of them. I just love to pile on the embellishments, papers and diecuts. I also enjoy adding stitching, a must have for all my projects.
Mel married her high school sweetheart--they met when they were 15 and have been together ever since. They have 3 girls that are Mel's source of inspiration. She is currently at home on maternity leave but will be returning to work very soon. Mel says, "For the longest time I was a very slow scrapper, taking hours if not days to complete a layout but I've recently forced myself to complete a layout in one sitting and in less than 2 hours, I'm pleasantly surprised that this works for me. I love creating layouts but also cards and this year I started Project Life which I love. We have a busy life but we wouldn't have it any other way."
