Rachel Gainer lives in Utah with her wonderfully laid-back husband and her curious little girl. She is an obsessive-compulsive organizer who is learning to adapt her neat-freak tendencies to her daughter’s into-everything-under-the-sun personality. As a writer and editor, she has worked for both Simple Scrapbooks and Paperkuts magazines. Now that she’s no longer working full-time, she spends her days laughing at her daughter’s crazy antics, reorganizing rooms in her house, scrapbooking in her new office, and reading good books.
Generally, I feel as if I am 19 years old—that is, until I spend time with girls who are actually 19, then I realize how much I’ve changed in the last seven years.
My favorite books are Peace Like a River, Love Walked In, Bel Canto, Wuthering Heights, House of Mirth...do I really have to pick just one? My favorite movie is Just Like Heaven; I've watched it hundreds of times and never tire of the sappy plot.
During my life, I have lived happily in brightly painted rooms.
One of the most defining moments of my life was when, at age 17, I took a river trip with a youth group and spent two days in a canoe with my (slightly older) future husband.
My camera is a Canon Digital Rebel XTi, and my favorite lens is my Canon 50mm f/1.8 lens (it’s great for indoor shots).
When I scrapbook, I must have my Omnigrid 6 x 12–inch ruler.
Though I began scrapbooking in the seventh grade, I don't think I found my groove until I began working for Simple Scrapbooks magazine in 2006.
My favorite scrapbooking colors are pink and blue. So far, I’ve made only one page that doesn’t include either of these colors.
You might notice that many of my pages include wallet-size photos. I print my photos in this smaller size so that I can fit more pictures on each layout.
