I would generally describe myself as crafty, energenic and athletic. I have a wide range of interests, I just wish I had more time to pursue them all!
Favorite book/movie/music: Well, this is kind of embarrassing, but my current favourite book is the Hunger Games. I actually didn’t realize it was a “teen” book when I read it, but I couldn’t put it down! I love movies, my favourite genre being action. However, I think my favourite movie ever is “Meet the Parents”. I laughed so hard I though I was going to split in two the first time I saw it. In terms of music I like classic rock and 80’s rap!
I’m originally from Halifax, Nova Scotia, and I will always be a “Maritimer” at heart, but I’ve lived in Toronto now for 13 years, and consider it home.
Probably the most defining moment of life was back in 2002, after I had been very ill, my son was stillborn and I was in a coma for 10 days. I could have drowned in the sorrow that surrounded that time, but I decided to move forward and focus on the positive things and people in my life. Following that, was the birth of my son and daughter as the other most important moments in my life.
My camera is a Nikon D5100, and my favourite lens is the 50mm 1.8. I have a few other lenses on my wish list though!
Nothing inspires me more when I scrap than a clean desk! Unfortunately, I get so lost in the creative process once I start, it doesn’t stay that way for long….so, I usually only do one page at a time!
I starting scrapbooking in 2005 after my daughter was born, so unfortunately for her, some of her baby pages are, um, “creative”. I began card-making around the same time, and love home décor projects and minis.
My favourite colours to scrap with are aqua, white and grey, but I love colourful pages and you’ll often see a rainbow of colours on my layouts. My biggest subject to scrap are everyday moments with my two kids, but we are prospective puppy parents, so I imagine she will bump my kids down a notch once she arrives.
I’ve been married to my husband Jacob for 10 years. We actually met in medical school, where I would often shirk studying for exams in place of crafting! It was years before he realized what a serious passion it is. I eventually traded my stethoscope for paper trimmer and sewing machine, and now am happily a stay at home crafting mom. When not crafting, you can find me at boot camp, running on the beach, or at cooking class.
