Stacy is the founder of online education at Big Picture Scrapbooking. More importantly, she is the mother of five incredibly bright and good-looking children, one of which she has no genetic claim on. In 2002 Stacy worked with editors at Creating Keepsakes magazine to found Simple Scrapbooks magazine.
Generally I feel as if I am 12 years old. I sometimes can't believe I've already graduated from high school and been to college and had kids. Crazy how life zooms by!
My favorite book/song/move is ... hmmm, I'm never very good at favorites questions. I love all kinds of books and music. I'm currently reading a new book on color (title escapes me) and making several new playlists for my iPod. I watch whatever Geoff rents for "Friday Movie Night" but I'm generally doing something else and don't pay all that much attention. I can't even tell you the name of the last movie I "watched."
During my life, I have lived in four states (Washington, Utah, Illinois and Idaho) as well as one foreign country (Germany).
One of the most defining moments of my life was when Brenda Birrell (Pebbles, Inc.) told me I should write a book—and I did. Core Composition, the book that I self-published with my friend Terina Darcey in 1997 was what led me to meet Don and Deanna Lambson, co-founders of Creating Keepsakes magazine. The rest is history.
My camera is the original Canon Rebel, and my favorite lens is the lens that is on it. I'm assuming it's pretty clear that I'm not that "into" photography. Maybe someday. For now, I just want to take good photos of my life and kids.
When I scrapbook, I must have color. I LOVE color and the emotion that it brings to my scrapbooking. For me, color in the form of paper and a variety of other elements is right up there with having a good story to tell.
Though I began scrapbooking in 1994, I don't think I found my groove until... are you kidding? I am always looking for my groove. I think looking for your groove is part of what makes this hobby so much FUN.
My favorite scrapbooking colors are bright, vivid, happy colors!
You might notice that many of my pages include handwriting. This is because I generally don't want to bother with finding a font and figuring out how to print my journaling. I'd rather my page look a little sloppy than have to figure out the font thing!
