A Note from Melissa
Since starting to take garage sale and thrift store finds and make them over, I rarely even pay attention to the color of a secondhand item that I see, providing it’s possible to change it!

Journaling
I love the challenge of creating an “after” to go with a "before.” There’s just something about taking a worn-out, tired, discarded, or outdated item and finding a new purpose for it. I’m a firm believer that there’s very little in the way of home decor that can’t be transformed with some paint and a little bit of creativity. I paid 99 cents for this slightly water damaged headboard at a local thrift store. Some sanding, priming, paint, hardware, and a few pretty embellishments turned it into a beautiful and functional coat rack with a chalkboard, key hooks, and spots to store odds and ends.

October Fun Fact
I followed the Couch-to-5K plan and ran my very first race last weekend. When I started out, I couldn’t imagine being able to run 3.1 miles without stopping or at least walking. But now I think I might just sign up for another race! (Proof that you really can teach an old dog new tricks.)
