A Note From Mary
One of my favorite (and often-used) designs is a simple block framed by a cardstock border. For this layout, I created a block of photos + journaling + title and framed it, so that the viewer’s eye is drawn right to the centre of the layout. In order to create continuity in the design, I used the design element of “repetition.” The colors orange and black are repeated throughout the layout in the photos, the choice of patterned papers and the butterfly embellishment. There is also a repetition of flourishes: one underneath the butterfly, in the font of the title, and—difficult to see—there are also flourishes stamped on the background cardstock, peeking out from the polka dot frame. In addition, polka dots are also repeated throughout the design in the digital and traditional patterned papers, the scalloped frame and the photos themselves.
