A Note from Melanie
Colour is my mainstay in scrapbooking and my most favourite thing about this hobby. There’s nothing I love more than experimenting with different colour combos, which probably accounts for how slow I am to actually scrap a page! I can play for hours trying different colours of cardstock papers. I love deep, saturated colours that don’t always necessarily match my photos, but compliment then with similar tones. In this layout, I used the teal & yellow cardstock to bring out the deep greeny-blue & yellow tones of the grass in the background of the focal photo, and the grey in the striped pp to pull out the grey hat in the photo. I also used hot, summer-y colours that play up the gist of my short, to the point journaling.
Don’t be afraid to use bold, bright colours-they can really make a layout pop. In fact, one of my favourite ‘techniques’ is to use bright colours together with black and white photos. There are no limits on what colour combos you can put together because there is no need to ‘match’ your photos, so let your imagination go wild!
