A Note from Monika
We live in a densely populated rural area just seven miles from the entrance to the Great Smoky Mountains National Park, so the idea of taking photographs of the sights of our hometown would have included a small convenience store/gas station and post office, a fire hall and the elementary school. I didn’t think that quite captured the essence of the beauty that surrounds us. So, I decided I would Google the name of our hometown and capture the screen shot to print, which is the first photo on the layout. The photo shows the state highway and our very long driveway. And a whole lot of trees and mountains! The photo to the right of the screen shot was taken on our family property. This photograph is just a sampling of the awesome beauty of the place we call home. Even though I took the photo several years ago, it remains one of my favorites.
I also used one of the sketches I submitted for the Write.Click.Scrapbook. anniversary celebration [http://www.writeclickscrapbook.com/write_click_scrapbook/2010/06/happy-anniversary-day-6.html ] for this month’s Gallery. I thought it would be fun to use it and see if I used it exactly as sketched or came up with a different version of my own sketch.
July Fun Fact
I am not a very good swimmer. Therefore, I made sure all three of my kids are confident, capable swimmers. Having a pool at the in-laws is a definite plus in achieving that goal!
