What do your scrapbooks say about you? That you were a mother? Anything else?
Of course, bits and parts of you will eek out of your kids pages, but will they know how cool you were in your legwarmers while you listened to your Walkman?
From your kids' pages, we might guess you were married, but how would we know when? How will we know you still love your husband? that you are still in love? that you think you are better together?
If you did a page on their love of reading, we might guess books are important to you (otherwise you mightn't be noticing their reading) but would we know that you LOVE them? or which ones you have read? Would we understand how your love of books affects your life?
If you travel without your kids, how will your travel photos get in their books? (Maybe just me, but I sort of think a page entitled, All the Cool Things We Saw Without You, seems a bit mean! ha!)
If your furniture wasn't cropped out of a photo (whoa!) in a picture of your child, would we know that you had painted and sanded that piece? or which camera you used to take the photo?
Might we think you like winter if you do a happy winter page with your children outside smiling? Might we be wrong? Might you be enduring?
How would we know you have regrets? disappointments? favorite recipes? favorite funny websites?
How would we know some days were better than others? that it was hard for you to leave your newly sold house? that you have goals and dreams? that you sometimes need affirmations?
Certainly, your culture and heritage will be visible in your childrens' pages, but from your perspective?
Is it possible to tell a friend or family member how and why you love them in a page about your kids? what about your sweet pet?
Your childrens' pages will shine with your love of motherhood, but will the pages tell us why?
Do your childrens' pages tell how you felt about your parents?
We are the keepers of our stories. Only we can tell them from our perspective. Our children will have their memories and can create their own scrapbooks. But who is best suited to make yours?
This month, celebrate you! Your story is funny, heartwarming, probably sad in parts, but incredibly and deliciously uniquely yours. 30 layouts are here to inspire you. And March has 31 days. Imagine the possibilities...
