Project Tips from Tanis
- Create your base block out of a piece of plain cedar. (I've been told that cedar will not affect your photos over time. If you choose a different type of wood, be sure to use untreated wood.)
- Create smooth edges on your block. I used a belt sander to make the work quicker, but you can easily smooth the edges with a sanding block.
- My block was created from a 4 x 4 cedar post, which actually measures 3 3/8 inches. Take this into account when printing your photos. I fit my four photos onto a 4 x 6 canvas in photoshop and the size was just right.
- Use Mod Podge to adhere your first paper layer to your block. Allow to dry and sand all the edges to create a seamless transition from wood to paper. The edges of the wood block will show through.
- Embellish as desired! The smaller canvas size can be a fun challenge for scrapbookers.
