Hi-Marie Taylor here! Welcome to my first solo week here at Write. Click. Scrapbook. As you know, we can find inspiration everywhere for our scrapbooks-in colors we see, magazines, books, other scrappers, and many other places, but this week it is about Pop. No, the whole week will not be about Dr Pepper, but Pop Culture (although really, I could dedicate a least one day to all Dr Pepper related layouts ;) Instead, my first inspiration comes from websites. I am a reader and browser of many beautiful websites and blogs that I frequently use for inspiration. Home design blogs, scrabooking forums, and of course Write. Click. Scrapbook. and our Tumblr blog are all great resources to fuel creativity on our pages. Sometimes my inspiration can come from the not necessarily beautiful blogs too. Take
Cake Wrecks for example. This website is a collection of cakes that have not turned out exactly as intended. The "what were they thinking" and the "better luck next time." For example

I can imagine the person on the phone requested for the cake to say Happy Birthday...and ONLY Happy Birthday. So how can I apply this in scrapbooking you ask? Well, I have a page, actually the second page that I ever scrapped, that I have never really liked.

The picture is way too small for the 12 x 12 format, and the over sized journaling has nothing to do with the picture or the memories attached to the photo. I'm not usually in the habit of redoing old pages, but this is one of my favorite pictures ever of my sisters and I wanted to do it right. So I fixed my "wreck."

Here I instead made the layout 8.5x11, really thought about my childhood home that we were standing in front of and added some details that although didn't directly have to do with the picture, are still worth remembering. I used colored masking tape for a color POP and adding the 80's rainbows and an almost exact replica of Elizabeth's yellow bike makes me feel much better about my favorite sister's picture.
Next up is some awkward inspiration. Awkward Family Photos is a website dedicated to those what were we thinking moments. (Go look, but please don't forget to come back-you really can get lost in the awkwardness!) Most of them seem to have happened in the 80's because really, don't we all have a few moments in the 80's we just wonder about? Here is (one of) my awkward moments with my own family.
I kept this layout simple as really, there is a lot going on in this photo. To give it some POP I used a chipboard question mark covered in cardstock that matched my super cool purple plaid shirt.
And here is an example of some of Erin Sweeney's awkward moments-because we can be awkward all by ourselves too.
When Erin told me about this layout she was trying to describe how big her head looked in that last picture...and it does. But not in real life. She has a perfectly proportioned head :)
Finally here is a layout inspired by Facebook. I recently saw a preview for the new Facebook movie coming out and got all weepy (hey I'm pregnant remember??) seeing all the moments shared there. The birth of a child, good news, bad news and just the day to day news. Living far away from all of my family, and many of my friends, it really is nice to know that my oldest friend is knitting tonight, a dear friend just got engaged, or a baby is on the way. Here is a layout I created about the announcement that I was expecting my third child. The journaling consists of all the well wishes and congratulations from
friends all over the world. As a person who saves most of the notes, cards, and letters she has gotten, Facebook gives me a much easier way to keep them together :)
Here I adapted one of my favorite
templates from Paislee Press (great digi paper and wonderful inspiration there!) I love the POP the yellow X gives :)
