I know, I know, that's not the most inspired title, but it really does fit. I had to giggle when I saw Marnie's album yesterday since we both took a similar tack! When I received my kit from Cocoa Daisy and went through it, I knew I had to make a mini about my favourite things. The papers and the embellishments were just perfect! Here is a quick first peek at my mini.
It's made from scratch using only the kit items. You see last year I fell in love with my Bind-it-All machine again, so making mini books has become something of an obsession. Even though I have a basket of blank minibooks, I wanted to try a new design for my spiral peek journals. (You can see a tutorial on how to make these on my blog).
I had the idea to do a wrap around cover, and my challenge was to make it from a sheet of 12x12 paper. This ended up dictating the size, the mini measures 4&1/2" wide by 6" tall when shut. The full cover is 6" tall by 12.5" wide: I kept the decorative border with the hearts. I then cut 12 pages from patterned paper, they each measure 4 x 5&3/4 inches.
On the title page it says " A Little Patchwork Collection" - patchwork because of the design of that flower from Sassafras Lass.
My photos are printed at 3"x4". In order to do this I used a free template by Paislee Press to get two photos onto a 4x6 image. I also use these templates for printing stuff for Project Life. They are very handy!
To decide what photos to use I first made a list of things that I enjoy, then went hunting in my photo archives to find photos to match each one. Once the photos were printed, I matted them on cardstock and added a label for journaling. I cut the labels from the circular patterned paper with a circle punch, then cut each one in half. Here are all the pages. (You can click on the images to see them bigger)
