Hi there, it's Sarah Pendergrast and I'm hosting the blog this week. I'm going to do a spotlight on humor and all things funny in our pages. When I look through my own pages, the ones that are most true to my personality are the lighthearted and funny ones, so I thought I would share some ideas and examples to inspire you.
That's what they said!
Today, I'm going to focus on a an easy starting point, and that's using funny quotes. Taking a quote from our kids is almost always guaranteed to bring some humour to our layouts. I love the quote from Jennie's son that she used for her title here:
Aliza Deutsch uses humor in her layout often, and here she also used a funny quote as her title. The story to support the title is included as part of her journaling.
My daughter has always had funny ways of phrasing things, and so I dont forget them, I will scrap her quotes. Sometimes I have a photo that was taken at the time of the quote, but not always. The story behind this layout is that my son has always needed to "talk" at bedtime. It's his way of working through challenging things or questions that came up during the day (and because he's on the autism spectrum, the questions can be very technical at times!). My daughter, who was two at the time, felt jealous of the these conversations, so she wanted to talk about what was important to her at the time, which was chocolate milk. I paired her quote with a bedtime photo taken at another time, to preserve the memory.
In this layout, I was again focusing on a "Mollyism", as I used to call her quotes, so I made the title the focus, with a small supporting photo of her. The journalling is brief, with a small story behind her quote.
My last example for today is not so much what I said out loud, but it was definitely what I was thinking when I heard my husband tooting away hour after hour on his new penny whistle...
I hope today's post wet your "whistle" on scrapping the funny things about life!
