Whoop! It's my birthday today. I thought what better way to celebrate than to giveaway a present to someone else? But first, I'm going to share a recent change in my Project Life that you might find interesting.
A little background first! I started Project Life in January of 2012. I wasn't a convert and had my doubts about keeping up with it. I just thought it would be a good way to get some more things documented and alleviate the pressure of having so many photos to scrap. Boy was I right. I think of my Project Life as a photo album with some journaling. It's not fancy, it's heavily photo centric. My boys love looking through it and I'm glad to be documenting so many different parts of our daily lives. I started in 2012 with a weekly approach and continued that through June 2013. That's 78 weekly spreads! Then July 2013 hit, last year I had the same problem in July. I wasn't taking a lot of photos and I really didn't have enough to fill two page spreads for every week. Two weeks of July last year are one page each with a couple of filler cards. See...
Enter the monthly Project Life. I decided for July 2013 I'd give it a shot. Worst case I could always go back to weekly, right? I ended up with ten spreads. You can see them all below.
Well I gave it a shot, I ended up with more pages than I normally do for a month. I think it went a little faster; less editing back the photos for sure. I love that I don't have to worry if I have too many photos or too few for any given week. I think even if I get to the end of a month and have some spaces open that will be okay too! I did everything in batches - select photos, edit all the photos, place all the photos, fill in with journaling cards, add embellishments and labels, and journal. I was able to include more filler cards and more journaling I think. I also had time to add more details. I was even able to include my monthly Second Saturday (a twist on 12 on the 12th) with ease. It was really fun shopping my stash!
Going forward I think this is the approach I'm going to take. I'll still touch it weekly as I will select my photos and pair with journaling & filler cards in a folder. Then after the first of the next month, I can assemble the whole month at once. And I know you want to know about the giveaway! Today I'm going to personally give one $20 gift certificate to Two Peas in a Bucket to one lucky reader. All you need to do is tell me what you'd want for your birthday in the comments below and the lovely Marnie will draw a winner monday morning!
Hope you have a great weekend and don't forget to leave a comment below for your chance to win!
