Good morning! I'm very happy to see that some of you have been inspired to start using your other crafts on your pages. There were even a couple aha moments! Since I had crochet planned for today, I spent some time surfing around crochet sites and tutorials. I'm even more inspired now too!
Flowers are a ubiquitous scrapbooking embellishment, and crochet flowers are not only cute, but pretty easy to make. Lisa shared this page with three flowers.
I love those crochet hearts in the photo! Also I was tickled to see that she used a free 3x4 card from my blog. You can get the Yarn Love card here.
I crocheted up a bunch of flowers myself, and used one on this page
You can find the pattern here. They work up really fast! It took me only a couple minutes to make one.
I tried a more involved pattern to make this purple double layer flower that I paired with a crochet heart. These take about five minutes each, but are well worth it.
Here's the pattern, and the heart instructions are here. The hearts are so easy, you'll want to make a ton for Valentine's Day projects.
I also found this daisy pattern that I plan to try soon
We can't leave out our digital friends! I made this layout using a crochet flower embellishment from a free digital kit at Pixels & Co.
The kit I used isn't available anymore, but I found this one with a crochet heart!
Amy used this super cute owl on her page
I love it and I found a cute owl crochet pattern here.
I also loved how a crochet piece was used as a photo mat on this page.
I would never have thought is that! It's now duly noted in my idea book :)
And now for a giveaway! I'll choose one person from the comments to send a pack of crochet embellishments: a selection of flowers and hearts like the ones I made. You have until Sunday the 9th to enter, and I'll announce the winner in this post.
UPDATE: The winner by random draw is Mai who said
Mai, I sent you an e-mail with instructions for claiming your prize. Congrats!
One final parting thought. I also wanted to focus on using knitting on pages, since I also knit, but crochet seemed to be more poplular. If you knit, do you use knitted pieces on your pages? Care to share any simple tutorials for knitted embellishments?
