Hi! It's Valerie here with a layout to share.
I love these summertime daily assignments because I'm free to create whatever I would like, with any products in my stash. My most recent purchase is this Maggie Alpha set by Studio Calico. So naturally, I gravitate toward this new item and am super inspired to use the stamps for my next project—the layout below:
I created a background paper with the stamps and some "Surfin' USA" lyrics by the Beach Boys. It was a fairly time consuming undertaking, but well worth the result!
To create the background, I grabbed some blue and aqua colored Gelatos, a mini mister, an acrylic block, and my new stamps. I arranged a couple letters on the acrylic block at a time and sprayed lightly with water. Then, I colored on the stamps with the Gelatos and then pressed the block down on the page for a cool watercolor effect. Once I made it all the way down the page, I misted the cardstock with more water and splattered some Mister Huey's to blend everything together. I blotted the page with paper towels and sped up the drying time by using a heat tool. Once dry, I grabbed a turquoise shade of chalk ink and stamped with the thinner alphas on top of the wider alphas. And there you have it—a fun, custom background paper.
If you try this technique, I'd love to see it! Link up in the comments section.
Have a great day!
