Welcome to the first installment in our October Sketchbook Saturdays. I have to say this month the gallery blew me away! Every month I love what our team does, but there was something about this one. I can't wait to play with all the sketches and to see how much fun you have with them, too.
Our first sketch comes from Amy's layout, Have Fun. I was drawn to its happy happy color scheme. And all those patterns. And the stitching. And, well, just about everything.
As I put the sketch together, I thought it was only fair to make two: one in each size. Here is the original format:
and one in a 12 x 12 dimension.
I made two layouts as I really loved the concept. The first one stayed very true to the sketch except I righted all the tipped elements. (You know me...not so good at the angles!).
In the next one, I needed to keep my photos 4x6 ratio, so I moved the photos around a bit. I just couldn't bear not seeing every in of that crepe. Makes me hungry just thinking about it. (And if any of you know a good gluten free crepe recipe, I would love it if you could share it!)
It really is a wonderful sketch. I think my next version will turn it on its side. Strips on top or on bottom? Which do you think?
Happy Saturday!
