Hello! It's Jennifer Larson, starting off scraps month with a focus on using up the scraps left over from your kits.
Recently I worked with October's kit for Scrapbook Circle, and I made this page:
I ended up with a LOT of patterned paper squares: (Pardon the poor lighting--I live in Minnesota, and it's getting darker here.)
I wasn't sure I wanted to throw them away, so decided to use them on another page. However, any time I tried to use them, they looked too much like the original page, so I decided I needed a new angle--literally:
I angled them and overlapped them to use as a border. Here's what I ended up with:
It's not that unusual a design--I've used it before--but gosh darn it, I used up those scraps and didn't have to throw them out! I even used the final 6 pieces because I mismeasured the photo block and adhered it with a 1/2 inch gap from the top of the page that I had to fill. For some visual interest, and because it's the bomb, I stitched the scraps down.
I'll be back tomorrow with an idea for how to fill a page with strips of paper.
