Happiest New Year! We hope that you had delightful celebrations last night! We are excited for our new year and look forward to having you join us each day as we keep our memorykeeping high on our resolutions list!
This month, our team took on the challenge of creating a layout with the theme of Decades. There were many different takes. We hope you enjoy them all! As always, you can see the layouts larger and read the journaling if you click on over to the photo album. Enjoy!
Hello 40 | Aliza Deutsch
12 x 12 | materials patterned paper (Elle’s Studio, Crate Paper, October Afternoon) + wood veneer (Cocoa Daisy) + thickers (American Crafts, Evalicious) + tabs (Evalicious) + stickers (Evalicious, October Afternoon) + die cuts (Crate Paper) + fonts (Amy Tangerine, Hello)
A Note from Aliza
Well, since I entered a new decade just days before the New Year, it was hard not to scrap about that.
January Fun Fact
I have been teaching at the same preschool for 9 (nonconsecutive) years. I taught K-2 for 6 years before that, but I don’t think I could ever go back to teaching grade school.
Dark Hallways | Jennifer Larson
12 x 12 | materials cardstock (Bazzill) + patterned paper (Studio Calico) + buttons (Stampin’ Up!) + brads (Stampin’ Up!) + thickers (American Crafts) + stickers (Studio Calico) + tags (Craft supply) + Project Life cards (Studio Calico) + pen (Copic, American Crafts)
A Note from Jennifer
I had to go to school after hours on the weekend to prepare for a sub, and the darkness and emptiness creeped me out, reminding me of the horror films I watched in the 80s growing up. I don’t watch horror movies anymore, but it’s funny how strongly the fear of a dark, empty hallway has stuck with me.
January Fun Fact
I may not watch horror movies anymore, but I love what is probably considered horror on TV, particularly Warehouse 13, Supernatural, and Buffy the Vampire Slayer (best TV show ever).
10 years | Lisa Borbély
8.5 x 11 | materials patterned paper (Cocoa Daisy) + thickers (American Crafts) + font (Typewriter for me) + stamp (Becky Higgins)
A Note from Lisa
I am a kindergarten teacher and this month marks my 10th year teaching. When thinking of what to make for this months theme, this came to me.
Still Teenagers of the 80s | Amy Sorensen
12 x 12 | materials Still Life, Veneer and Centaur fonts
A Note from Amy
I love the 80s...but not in the way most people did. I mean, I went through a short phase of Madonna impersonation, I had a pair of jelly shoes, and I owned some fluorescent-pink Units stretch pants. But for most of my teenage years I was dressed in black and punked out. My best friend Chris was right there with me, but I've never documented anything about those years. When she shared the picture of us from 1989, though, I couldn't resist. I tried out a ton of different patterns and supplies for this layout, but nothing really seemed to fit the time period and the look I wanted. I'm happier with this clean, streamlined version!
January Fun Fact
I've been trying to get my hamstrings to feel better and let me go running since October. Alas, all that time off of exercising hasn't helped, so I'm envisioning a long month of many PT appointments to get this taken care of. I miss running!
50s | Cristina C. Scrap
12 x 12 | materials Straight Up papers and These Are the Days elements by Kaye Winecki, Don’t Stop the Music elements by Pink Reptile Designs, Outliners Alpha by Amy Martin and The Serif’s Sister font by Heather Joyce, all from The Lilypad
A Note from Cristina
I was stumped by this month’s theme, but then I thought about scrapping my musical preferences. It was a fun page to make!
January Fun Fact
This will be my fourth year doing Project Life. I’m excited to finish up my 2014 album and start afresh with 2015!
She's a Decade | Marnie Flores
12 x 12 | materials paper (Dialogue, Gennifer Bursett) + doily (Chasing Rainbows, Designs by Dani) + ribbon (Dialogue, Gennifer Bursett) + flair (Creashens, Dear Classy Flairs) + splatter (Dialogue, Gennifer Bursett) + stickers (Dialogue, Gennifer Bursett) + sequins (Dialogue, Gennifer Bursett) + fonts (Jacques & Giles, Passing Notes)
A Note from Marnie
When I first saw this theme, I thought for certain I was going to do a page about being a child of the seventies and a teen in the eighties. But I found my thoughts swirling and swirling and not knowing where to go. So I turned my efforts to my scrapbooking my kids. It's okay, though, right?
January Fun Fact
Today I begin again. I was ready for a reason for a change. And the calendar seems to have provided it. Fingers crossed.
