Hello and welcome to week two of Mini Madness! I hope that you enjoyed week one! I was completely in awe of the Ewa's and Cari's minis. Holy guacamole! Weren't they incredible? I love seeing what others can do and how similar starting points can take such differing paths. Artistry is awesome.

 

This week we are fortunate to have Gossamer Blue sponsoring our week of Mini Madness. As a kit company, Gossamer Blue has grown into its own finding its place with kits elements that always include journalings helpers. I love that.

Let's look at the current kit and see what sort of inspiration it holds for making mini albums.

The first thing that jumps out at me is the big giant "I am." Wouldn't that make a lovely title page for a book all about you? or me? or us?

The next thing I see is the Simple Stories sticker sheet. Here it is up close.

When I read the stickers I see a teen/senior album, a selfies book, a gratitude album, and a happiness project album. There are just so many little bits of sunshine and goodness--from the colors to the flowers to the hearts and the rounded fonts. What sort of things do you see?

 

The kit includes a stamp set, too.

I didn't need but one glance at this to know this would be perfect for a Right Here/Right Now album. I am such a font snob and I think that Elle's Studio knocked it out of the park with this one. It's perfect.

 

As I was browsing the Gossamer Blue blog, I saw a fabulous project created by one of their designers, Rebecca. It is a set of house warming gifts. Isn't it lovely?

The thing that most caught my eye is the little house in the corner. Here is a closeup.

Isn't it amazing? And wouldn't it make the most amazing cover to a mini album about our family or our home? Or yours? I really want to make one now, and I really want the cover to look just like this. Exactly. Right down to that big heart on the door. ♥

Sketchbook Saturday

It is Saturday and we are taking a quick break from mini albums to create a new sketch. This week we are again looking to the September 2009 Gallery, where we found Lisa Dickinson's cheerful and colorful layout.

 

We were excited to be able to create a three photo sketch for you today.

 

To help you see the sketch in action, Marnie and Amy put together layouts for you. Marnie maintained the sketch basics making few changes.

 

Amy also stuck to the sketch but swapped out the photo mattes and added a layout matte. Do you love how she snuck in such a soft green on a page all about boys?

We hope you find this sketch useful with its uniform vertical photos. We would love to see you change it up and make it your own!

Mini Madness Ewa Wesołowska

Hi everyone! Ewa here to share with you my favorite things to make - a mini album.

I love mini books because I can make one in a very short amount of time. This time I used papers from Dear Lizzy - Serendipity collection that American Crafts sent me.

These vibrant colors on papers reminded me of lovely day I spent last spring with family in my garden.

 I cut papers in 4x4 squares , arranged with photos and smaller pieces of papers . Added a little bit of embellishment from Fine and Dandy,alphas and of course stamps.

Next cut some journaling cards from collection and used as a dividers.

  I really enjoy this album!  And I hope you like it too!?

Mini Madness Cari Orellana

Hello everyone, It's Cari here! I'm so happy to be here and to finally be able to show my mini! As you may know, I worked with an amazing Dear Lizzy pack that American Crafts sent me. So for this mini album I used paper from Serendipity and embellishment from Fine and Dandy, even though there are two different collection is amazing how incredible well they match, you will see in my mini, you couldn't even tell they are from different collection!

So let's the fun begin! The mini I made is for my b-day party and the photos I have with the 27 balloons I got for that day. I Try to recreate this balloons in the cover with the numbers stickers I got from AC.

 

Once I'm making a mini album I alway try to not to use a million photos, because I know for experience that I will never end that mini. I try just to pick just my favorite photos of date/event and work with that.
I love to include pockets to add some messages, my album start with a pocket and a photo of my holding the balloons.

 

I always include different sizes of papers on my mini albums, I think it give it a funky and more joyful design. 

 

The journaling is always the hardest part for me. In this mini I added a quote. Quotes has been working perfect for me lately, then I add some extra thought that that very same quote, this has helped me to be able to write a little longer.

 

 

When I make a mini album I try to make it according to the feels I had at the moment of the photos were taken, and I really feel the spirit of my party was well expressed with this mini and the collection I use.

 

I hope you like this mini! I really enjoy making mini albums and I specially love this one.

click | american crafts mini photo ideas

Yesterday we looked at all the ways to find inspiration for journaling ideas for our mini albums. Today we are going hunting for ideas for photographs. I know it might seem crazy to some of you, but I have found that my most easily assembled mini albums had preplanned photos. It's an illness. I know! 

 

Let's look again at the papers that were included in our kit.

First, colors. With that lovely blue, and the whitewashed but bright colors, there are so many options for colors. Because they lean on the cool side side of the spectrum, I am thinking outside photos would be wonderful. Thoughts??

Second, for me, these colors read happy, so I would look for happy playful photos. What do they say for you?

 

Let's look next at the embellishments that are included in the kit. These come from the brand new Fine & Dandy line.

These items are dying for a birthday album. Or some sort of party album. In fact, I think that using the other items in the line to help decorate the party would tie everything together so very nicely. The spoons, the cupcake liners, the honeycomb balls--what delightful birthday decor.

I also think this would make a fun friend album. I'm thinking a dessert night with girlfriends and candids or photobooth style shots. Those bows are so girly and yet sort of grown up feeling with their acrylic style. Like them so much.

 

Lastly, the colors and trinkets seem like a fabulous reason to put together an Easter album. The confetti and the spring colors. The umbrella for those of us who endured a bit (or more!) of rain. It's all so lovely. But what if your photos didn't work? Then recreate of course, A few eggs scattered about the lawn and flower beds, with little arms reaching down. All it takes is the right bribe and any holiday can be redone. Promise. :)
