This layout is about this bittersweet (for me) stage in my son’s life. I really am excited to see my older son make his way in the world. But our everyday life in our little home is going to change. We still have another year or so, which still gives us many days together, but it’s a little close for comfort.
May Fun Fact
I have been baking bread recently, and I think it might be my most favorite thing, ever.

Running out of bookshelf space at home a few years ago, I boxed up my books and put them in my classroom for kids to check out and read. These shelves are the literary life of my husband and me.
Recently, a local NPR show asked people to tag pictures of their bookshelves and tweet them with the hashtag “Shelfies.” I never tweeted my photos, but I took them and put them on this page.
May Fun Fact
The chevron bunch I used on the page is supposed to be even, but I was careless about lining it up, which led to the uneven punches. I like the look! Happy accident.

This layout shows an everyday photo of my son waiting while the other gets his haircut. The layout is a bit of a departure for me as it uses very little patterned paper. I also started the layout differently than I normally do. I put the paint splatter down then collected random elements from a variety of kits and layered them on my project.
May Fun Fact
May is a birthday month around here, lots or parties and celebrating!
Dream Come True | Cari Orellana
12 x 12 | materials cardstock (American Crafts + patterned paper (Crate Paper, Ashley Goldberg, Studio Calico) + embellishments (Dear Lizzy, Studio Calico) + thickers (Amy Tan) + pen (Smash)
A Note from Cari
When I think on everyday life I can avoid thinking in my family so of course I used a photo of them. The paper with cats is from Ashley Goldberg and I've been hoarding it since last September because I like it so much that I was scared of ruining it. It wasn't until some weeks ago that I saw a layout from Eyoung Lee where she use this paper this way and I knew that was the perfect way. With that problem solve all the rest of the layout came up by itself.

This month's theme is one of my favorite topics to scrap. I love documenting the every day! An easy tip for journaling is to start each sentence with a recurring phrase. I used "Every day,..." to start each sentence and it was super easy to write everything I wanted to say and felt in my heart. I love quick and easy tips for journaling!
May Fun Fact
I'm starting off this month with a few fun days at my friend's awesome cabin in the mountains. I'm looking forward to time on the deck, looking at the mountain view and recharging my creative batteries.

Since January my daily routine includes a nap twice a week. It seems indulgent, but without it, I'm a mess. The best part of my nap, though, is without a doubt my sleeping mate! Love her!!
May Fun Fact
Been binge watching lots of British tv lately. My accent is getting better and better! I told my kids that if we ever move, I might just adopt a British accent as my regular voice. It's so much better than my own!
We hope you enjoy the gallery and look forward to a fabulous month together!
