Hi! It's Dee and I'm so happy to be here with my first blogpost for Write.Click.Scrapbook!
When we're talking colors & seasons fall definitely is my fave. I love the orange/yellow shades of the leaves but also of the sunlight. It paints the whole world beautifully gold. So for fall layouts my goto colors are definitely orange, yellow & gold. As complementary color I absolutely adore (dark) pink, because pink & orange is one of my favorite color-combination. Another 'color' I like to add to this palette is woodgrain. Of course this is not a real color, but especially dark wood is something that screams fall (or winter for that matter) to me!
I used the abovementioned colors in a layout I made a couple of weeks ago for the start of fall. For those of you who visit my blog on a regular basis, you may already have seen this one!
Autumn
12 x 12 | materials: patterned paper (Studio Calico) + leafs (unknown) + kraft label (Amy Tangerine for American Crafts) + thickers (American Crafts) + Gold Camera (Studio Calico) + gold 'captured' label (Studio Calico) + folder tab (Heidi Swap for Pink Paislee) + washitape (Freckled Fawn) + ink (Stazon) + pen (Sharpie) + date stamp (Dear Lizzy for American Crafts)
For the basis of this page I've used a gorgeous paper by Studio Calico that consists mostly of woodgrain and a touch of pink on the side. Since I use cardstock as a base for most of my layouts I really wanted to challenge myself to use this paper as a base instead of plain old cardstock ;-) I matted my photo with an old Heidi Swapp file tab on which I did my journaling. The title is in burlap thickers by American Crafts. Burlap is another thing that screams fall to me! At the base of the picture I've used little leafs in various colors that I've had in my stash for ages. I love how they connect with the leaf in the photo! In general I love how the colors of the layout complement the colors in the picture, which is not always an easy task!
What are your favorite fall color combinations?
Much love,
Dee
