My Little Wooden Village

I have been collecting little wooden houses since we moved here. An everyday decoration for years, now they just come out for Christmas. They are so sweet and carry such memories of our life lived here. Putting the fairy lights inside give off such a warm glow of love. This year they are up high to keep them safe from the crazy dog, so now I can gaze over from the kitchen and stare at their loveliness!

Red Velvet Bows

Velvet bows. Luxury. Warmth. Femininity.  I love everything about them. And having a little velvet bow tree in the corner this year is making my heart happy. 

I bumped up the blues on the plaid paper and futzed with the green star paper until looked about the same. One of my favorite parts of digital!

First Snowfall

I was a bit worried when I planned this page because we don't always have snow in December. But this morning when I threw back the drapes, there it was! A light dusting, but cold enough to last all day. I was excited as it gave me a chance to journal about the flower gardens. Not very on season for December, but on point for my current stage of life.

What started as a relatively green and grey page got bits of pink and red added once the flower photo was in. I'm not mad about it. :)

Little Mr. Santa

I wanted the emphasis on this one to be the reds. I switched a few of the colors on the striped paper and then darkened a few of the red elements. No journaling on this one, just the title, which really says it all. :)

Christmas Music

It's true. Another list page. The songs that must be played, and the songs that must be sung. The Sunday that Christmas songs hit the hymn list is my favorite. I close my eyes, harmonize, and let my soul sing deeply. I got distracted when the kids were little and failed them musically, so I sing alone. Sometimes the tears fall. Sometimes I sing so loudly that my kids hide a little inside themselves. :) 

One of my favorite memories as a child is singing songs as an extended family as my Grandma played along on the big black piano. With its hollow echo of age and good use. It's been too long since we celebrated surrounded by family. I am grateful for such sweet childhood memories to hang onto.

December Album Title Page

I set the color scheme, the fonts, and while I should have a general idea of what I'll include, I'm actually just going to wing it a bit. :) :) 

I did use the basics to get a title page together!

How about you? Do you preplan the whole album, or do as you go?

The Tree

Confession time.... my tree has been up since early November. I often take it down the day after Christmas, and I LOVE LOVE LOVE the holiday lights, so I put it up early. Last year I put up two, but this year we have a new puppy so the old one will stay safe in its box this year. It is 26 years young and sheds a bit more every year, so it is going to safely sit this one out. The new tree is lovely and full and has lights that change. I put them on the primary colors and the kids had a revolt, so back to white they went. :) There is nothing quite so lovely to me as the glow of the tree and the mantle. Ten minutes in the room and I am a new person. The softness. The twinkles. The glow. Add a little Airus Christmas in, and well, it might be perfection.

Used the Citrus Twist kit again, though I might have changed the color green on the paper.... Also, I may replace the photo with one from Christmas Eve once all the presents are out. But for now, this will do superbly.

December Album

My old friend Ali Edwards began the December Daily phenomena. Since then, it has grown into something remarkable. I always found an excuse to not finish my album--kids' busy lives atop the list. Now I wish I had years of albums on which to look back and reminisce. Not able to change the past, the next best thing is to change the future! So here is page one for 2024. I even bought some new supplies! This page uses the Citrus Twist Life Crafted Holiday Magic bundle. I feel like I may incorporate another bundle or two. I cannot promise that I will stick to one, though I do promise to stick it out!

For my movies page, I have added the titles watched so far. Before I put the album to print, I can update as I go. I know for many of you, the season is all about the music. I, however, cannot wait to start watching the cheesy movies. All of them. Knowing the list might extend onto a second card, I saved space to add more. If something happens and I just need the one, I can add a few embellishments.
